Silver Linings Playbook Review

For my first movie review I've decided to review Silver Linings Playbook starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. Silver Linings PLaybook follows Pat Solitano (Cooper) after he is released from a mental institution. He moves back in with his parents and tries to reconcile with his wife. Pat is soon introduced to Tiffany (Lawrence), who is a extremely mysterious girl with problems of her own.

After a few encounters the two make a deal that if Pat helps Tiffany with an upcoming dance contest, she will help him reconnect with his wife. Throughout their dance rehearsals and outside interactions, a lot is revealed about the two characters and they find they have a lot more in common than they knew. The two realize they have feelings for one another in the end and the movie, which was filled with dramatic displays of anger and at some points full blown hysteria, ends on an uplifting note.

I was extremely excited to see this movie when it first came out, mainly because I am a huge Jennifer Lawrence fan. I didn't know what the movie was about going into it but I was expecting it to be quite serious. Throughout the movie however, I found myself laughing in the most inappropriate moments. I was in the theater with older couples who were probably taking the movie and it's content very seriously because it was meant to be a rather serious movie. I however couldn't contain myself whenever Jennifer Lawrence was on the screen. She has some of the best facial expressions I have ever seen and it made it so hard not to laugh when she was yelling at Pat.

There were some parts that were quite sad. Like for instance, when Pat would go into these hysterical fits thinking about his wife or when he heard the song they danced to at their wedding. I couldn't help but feel sympathy for him in those moments. Those fits and moments of severe sadness, common with Bipolar Disorder, are very real for other viewers.

Overall I thought this movie was great. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone. This movie, although having quite serious content, is still a very endearing story.

Lots of Love
Emily
